Emergency Food Cupboard

Feeding the hungry

Jesus' mandate to feed the hungry is one which we gladly accept.

The need continues to grow:

The Food Cupboard served the second greatest number of people in October 2013.  We served food to 2,410 people in 842 households.  The emergency program also had the 2nd highest number of people with 207 people served.  As a matter of reference, in October 1999, we served 37 people, and 188 in 2009.  Last month we served 337 people in the emergency program.

CSA's food pantry is funded by Foodlink. We follow Christ's command to feed the hungry by providing healthy food to Rochester residents with food insecurity. Our Tuesday mobile pantry distributes fresh produce, and the emergency food pantry distributes a range of proteins, produce, grains, and dairy products to help families and individuals maintain a healthy diet.

Next spring, we'll again be hosting the Alison Clarke Community Garden Project in coordination with Foodlink.  Calvary St. Andrew's will supply the land, the coordinator, and the labor, and Foodlink will supply the beds, plants, cooking lessons.  We are excited about entering the third year of this venture!  With the removal of the playground equipment, we will be able to significantly increase the size of the garden and get more beds into the sunlight.

Our Food Cupboard also assembles food baskets for those in need during Thanksgiving.
