We Believe:  Kindergarten Through Teens
Our Sunday school curriculum, We Believe, follows the lectionary. Each Sunday morning our youth are responding to and engaging in activities based on the same biblical passages or themes presented in worship. This provides our families an opportunity to share together at home. This program also incorporates a wide variety of teaching methods and learning styles.

Children's Sermons
The children are in worship for the first fifteen mintues. Each Sunday a children's sermon lays out the theme for the morning and the key scriptual text. The children then explore the theme in their respective classes. A dedicated group pf teachers share their faith with the youth in practical hand on ways.

 FELLOWSHIP ACTIVITIES FOR YOUTH

                                                Youth Camp-out

An annual youth and adult outing is camping in Jerusalem NY then riding bikes through the beautiful countryside of the Finger Lakes. Walking in the gorge, blueberry picking, listening to the frog and cows put us in touch with the beauty of nature and what God has so entrusted to our care.

How many tents do we have to put up?

"Someone has to do the dishes...."

Special Gatherings

Christian Education gatherings for parents, teachers and youth are held throughout the year. After sharing a meal together, time is spent sharing ideas for improving our program, planning youth activities, and discussing topics of interest. We also plan several community building activites such bowling and sledding. The teachers and parents have a chance to plan and reflect on programming while the youth get an oppotunity to fellowship.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

Members of our church family worked many hours to retell the story of the birth of Jesus. Each year this story is always unique and comes from the hearts and souls of our youth and adults. This service is a special Christmas gift for all who attended. At the early service on Christmas Eve the church is filled with animals-sheep and of course angels.

Training Center for Urban Interns and Seminarians

Established by the National Presbyterian Church USA, the Intern Program is designed to place seminary students in field opportunities to learn key aspects of what it takes to turn around declining congregations often set within changing communities. CSA has been a part of the training program since it’s inception. Calvary St. Andrew’s is a training site for seminarians from Colgate Rochester Divinity School. Second year students are placed under the supervision of our pastor the Reverend Judy Lee Hay. This year Diane Ellis, a second year UCC student is serving as intern.

Rehearsals 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

Join us and sing praises to God.

The CSA Choir welcomes all singers to join our choir.  The choir consists of more than 18 members (SATB), performing under the able direction of the Minister of Music, Donald Tirabassi.

“The CSA Choir has brought me back to God and to God’s people… Within its circle I find peace, love, comfort, warmth, friendship and so much more. I look forward to Thursday night rehearsal; it is a time of peace and quiet after a busy, sometimes frantic, day at the office. My spirit is fed as our voices blend, as we learn new anthems or dive into an old favorite.” - Nancy Lauterbach

“The choir is like a second family to me. We have a prayer circle after each practice on Thursday evenings, where we can share our concerns or ask for prayers. I know I could ask for help/advice from just about any choir member, and I would do the same for them. It’s a great group.” - Cathy Buggie

Partners in Ministry

As the lay shepherds of the church, the congregation is divided among the lay Partners in Ministry members. We each engage as often as possible with our individual shepherding group throughout the month by phone calls, e-mail, cards, home gatherings, and Sunday morning conversations. The committee meets the second Monday of each month. Our main focus is to best meet the needs of the people in our church community. Concerns (prayers, nursing home visits, hospital visits, rides to church, meetings, doctors, or delivering meals) are brought to the table for discussion and possible solutions are evaluated. All concerns and discussions are kept confidential.
