     DRAW THE CIRCLE WIDE

Our Mission Statement: As we “Draw the Circle Wide” we affirm our call by Jesus Christ to share the Gospel and be instruments of compassion, social justice and systemic change.

Diversity is a core value of the parish community as can be seen in our ministry, worship life and church membership. As an urban parish we welcome people from varied backgrounds, races, sexual  orientation and education.  “Draw the Circle Wide,” describes our commitment to Christ.                                                                                                                                                                                                     CHECK US OUT ON FACEBOOK

 Worship As A Response To God’s Generosity

In response to God’s generosity we celebrate the Sabbath with a spirited worship service at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Through fellowship, prayer, a variety of musical styles and selections, we bring our hearts into God’s presence. In the center of the sanctuary is the breath taking stained glass window depicting the women at the tomb as the angle proclaims Jesus' resurrection. Designed by famous artist George Haushalter the window is a testimony to the spirit of Christ's ressurection and hope. The dynamic preaching and heart felt music coupled with the weekly celebration of the Lord’s Supper fill our souls to go out into the world and to better practice our faith. With our Pastor the Reverend Judy Lee Hay, lay people are active leaders in worship service through readings, prayers, music, drama and in serving communion. The whole people of God are invited by Christ to be fed spiritually and to go into the world to be in service. We are a diverse city congregation committed to Christ.

Children are a joyful reminder of Christ’s hospitality to be cherished and welcomed into our midst. The children gather on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the main part of the church for a children’s message then go to their Sunday School classes and rejoin us for the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

  SHAWL MINISTRY

<!--StartFragment-->

When an individual or family goes through a serious illness, death or major crisis the fact that God cares and loves them can be a comfort through the rough spiritual waters. The Shawl Ministry takes eriously this emotional time by providing a physical symbol of love--a hand made shawl. Every shawl is made by a member of the team with prayers in every stitch.

n 2010 the CSA Shawl Ministry joined forces  with the St. John Fisher knitting group and took on  a new outreach project.  We knitted and crocheted 86 small items for infants and children at the Anthony Jordan Health Center.  These items were small, snuggly, security blankets which we dubbed, "Lovies".   Blankets and other clothing items were also included.

   We can teach the basics with help and instruction. By the time a shawl or garment  is completed, it is filled with prayers for the specific individual  or group in need, providing not only physical warmth but also great spiritual comfort and an understanding of another's struggles or grief.  A handmade gift from the heart  is worth thousands of words.

Nancy Lauterbach and Vera Mascaro are two members of the Shawl Ministry.

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

Developing Youth leadership in our congregation is an important value. Youth participate in worship, lead prayers, help in coffee hour and assist in liturgy by bringing up the bread and wine for communion. The older youth assist the younger children as role models. The diversity of our youth reflects the changes within our city that embraces the multiple faces of Chirst.
